Navy Man died after accident in Virginia Beach

On May 28, a 21-year-old Navy man died in a local hospital a week after a car accident in

Virginia Beach in which he suffered massive personal injuries.

On the morning of May 21, Daniel Mayberry was a passenger in a vehicle which crashed shortly after midnight on

Shore Drive

. On May 28, he was pronounced dead at 10:58 a.m. at

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. The driver, who is also a locally stationed Navy man, is still in serious condition.

The police report says that the two men were driving east on

Shore Drive

and the driver failed to negotiate a left turn. The vehicle ran into several trees, knocked down a utility pole, flipped multiple times, and left a trail of debris across three blocks. According to police, speed and alcohol were both factors in the crash.
