Ex-Lawyer Stephen Conrad Gets 11 Years

November 24th, 2008 Author: Ben Glass

Ex-Virginia personal injury attorney Stephen Conrad was sentenced by a federal court judge to serve 11 year in prison for stealing over $4,000,000 in settlement funds from clients. Through his attorney, Conrad apparently asked for leniency, citing financial hardship and gambling and drug addictions.

What’s so amazing about this is the size of the theft. How did this guy continue to get so many clients and to steal from so many before he was caught. Weren’t these folks paying attention to their cases? Who was referring cases to him. He wasn’t well known as an accomplished personal injury attorney. How was the public so hoodwinked?
