Crash the Result of Driver Inexperience

July 23rd, 2008 Author: Ben Glass

On June 10, a man died after going into cardiac arrest when his vehicle was struck and sent into a ditch in Virginia Beach. The following morning at 1:17 a.m. was when 42-year-old Virginia Beach resident Eric Amdal was pronounced dead.

According to police spokesman Adam Bernstein, the accident took place shortly after 10 p.m. He said Amdal was driving south on Princess Anne Road before attempting to make a left turn onto Muddy Creek Road. The 16-year-old female driver behind him entered the northbound lane in order to try and avoid striking his car from behind.

Instead, her car struck Amdal’s vehicle on the driver’s side, sending both vehicles into the ditch. After the accident, Amdal went into cardiac arrest and died after being transported to a local hospital.

According to Bernstein, the crash was the result of “driver inexperience.” Amdal was not wearing his seat belt. Two passengers in Amdal’s vehicle sustained minor injuries.
