Augusta County three-car crash

According to Sgt. David Cooper of the Virginia State Police, a woman from Grottoes died at approximately 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 25 after received critical personal injuries in a three-car

Augusta County crash on Friday, May 23. 
Police said that 40-year-old Cheryl Sheaves required transport to the University of Virginia Medical Center around 7 a.m. on Friday. She was driving her 1994 Ford Thunderbird southbound on U.S. 340 near Stuarts Draft when she was hit head-on by 21-year-old Jeremy Rasnake, who police say was driving northbound and had crossed the center line in his 1988 Ford Bronco. 
According to Cooper, Rasnake told police at the scene that he believed he had fallen asleep. He was arrested on Friday on charges of driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license in addition to receiving a citation for failure to wear a seat belt, according to police.
