Heard a new one today from a new client. She was seriously injured in a car accident. She tried to be reasonable and deal with the insurance claim on her own. After her accident she tried to schedule surgery through her own primary care provider and they were too slow.
Her family knew a great surgeon out of town and she was able to get an appointment. (She needed surgery on her bone fractures urgently.) She arranged for an got the surgery.
Know what the insurance company told her? “That we won’t pay since you didn’t use your own doctors.”
I guess they think she’ll just go away. She didn’t. She called a lawyer.
The insurance rep’s answer was a total lie, designed, we believe, to get her to just “go away.” It didn’t. Instead she has done the smart thing and hired an attorney.
People blame the victim for lawsuits. I invite people to “listen” into the conversations these insurance adjusters are having with claimants and ask yourself “who is to blame for lawsuits?”
